The State Archives in L’Aquila hold second copies of birth, marriage and death registers with their indexes and attachments from 1809 to 1865 from the municipalities in the current province of L’Aquila and the suppressed district of Cittaducale, now in the province of Rieti. Recently, the court in L’Aquila also transferred the registers of the Italian period from 1866 to 2000 for the municipalities in its district. The fund can be consulted in the study room of the institute.

– List of conscription (1840-1948).

In the fund called the Provincial Leva Council are collected the conscription lists of the classes (born) between 1768 and 1841 of the districts of L’Aquila, Avezzano, Cittaducale and Sulmona and also, but only for the class of 1819, the matriculation rolls of conscripts from the provinces of Abruzzo and Molise. The Archive L’Aquila Conscription Office Instead, it contains the conscription lists referring to the classes between 1842 and 1944 and the registers of the reformed (classes 1874-1899) male population; there are gaps for the municipalities of the former Cittaducale district (classes 1842-1908) and for the municipalities of Popoli and Bussi (from the class of 1908).

Matriculation sheets and roles

The Aquila and Sulmona Military District Archive (classes of 1843-1913) holds the draft cards and military records of the enrolled recruits.
